The Brick & Mortar Coffee Story

Brick & Mortar Coffee was founded on the principles of displaying craftsmanship, building community, and elevating culture. Everything from our tasting room to our coffee roasting process and customer service is simple – built to serve. We build relationships through sharing delicious coffee and useful knowledge so you can continue the craft in your own home or café.

 

Our story begins in 2014 when the original crew of world-class coffee nerds renovated the neighborhood-cleaner's-turned-motorcycle-repair-shop at 1666 East Saint Louis Street into the coffee shop and roasting facility that operates to this day. Thus began the process of Brick and Mortar Coffee laying a foundation of coffee craftsmanship in Springfield, Missouri. In 2022, long-time employee and Head Roaster, Jon Marsh, purchased the shop, doubling down the original vision of Brick and Mortar craftsmanship but with renewed emphasis on customer service and friendliness.

Through the years, it has been our pleasure to serve countless cups of coffee and partner with many local businesses to provide a delicious, local product to our community- a community which is truly the bedrock of our mission. We are proud and excited to be located in Springfield, Missouri because here we have what the big coastal brands do not: midwest friendliness. We have every bit of coffee know-how those guys have, but they don't have the politeness to  make tasty, craft coffee approachable to most people. Nobody wants pretension with their morning coffee.
